BENEFITING: SLOW FOOD U S A INC
Live Optimistically, Value the Earth! L.O.V.E more! To celebrate this beautiful planet and this amazing gift of life that I have been blessed with, I am going to run across the whole state of Iowa this summer. I'll begin in Council Bluffs, Iowa on June 22nd and end on July 1st in Davenport, IA for a grand total of 311 miles in 10 days. As many of you know, I am super passionate about yoga and sharing the gifts of yoga with all, so I plan on teaching all-level donation yoga classes in many of the towns that I pass through. 100% of the proceeds will go to Practical Farmers of Iowa and the local Slow Food Chapters.
This whole idea started with my desire to honor my great-grandfather, George M. Schilling, who walked around the entire planet in the early 1900's. Here's a link to a very cool article written in 1899 about my great grandfather, George M. Schilling:
I figure the least I can do is jog across a big state!
If I am going to run super far, I also figured it would be a nice chance to raise money for organizations that support our planet. So, this year's cause is to raise awareness for sustainable agriculture and all the benefits of our local foods.
I look forward to spreading a little LOVE, celebrating our amazing Iowa communities and supporting local foods!
