LEAP is a decade-old non-profit that began by launching the Grandin Village and West End Farmers Markets. Today, the organization supports a wide-ranging portfolio of programs that provide services unlike any other group. LEAP doubles the value of local food for SNAP and Medicaid recipients and offers weekly subscription boxes of locally grown fruits and vegetables. LEAP’s Mobile Market purchases food from local farmers and takes it on the road to a dozen underserved communities each week from May through October. It also manages the LEAP Kitchen, a shared commercial kitchen and food business incubator. As of January 2020, LEAP became the steward for the community gardens in Roanoke, previously managed by the Roanoke Community Garden Association.
