The Live Like Blaine Foundation honors Blaine Steinberg, an accomplished athlete, student and leader who passed away suddenly in 2014, just two weeks before her 21stbirthday. Blaine had an undeniable work ethic and relentlessly positive attitudethat made her stand out as a leader and enabled her to have a deep and lasting impact on friends, teammates, coaches and teachers.
Our mission is to inspire and empower young women to become leaders through athletics
Our vision is to share Blaine’s spirit to empower young women to lead both on and off the field with her combination of grace and determination
We have 4 Fit to Lead programs where we work to turn athletic principles into leadership tools, including:
- Captains’ Practice Leadership Conference, an annual one-day leadership conference for high school female athletes
- Scholarship program that provides full scholarships to the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy
- Provide principal funding for 2 Harlem Lacrosse Philadelphia programs
- LLB Leadership Academy (launching Fall 2019), a year-long in-depth leadership training and mentoring program for high school female athletes
As an athlete, Blaine always wore number 11, so we also developed 11 Ways to Live Like Blaine, which aim to shape how young women approach themselves, their activities and their teams. LLB has reached over 800 young women, preparing them to be the next generation of female leaders.
Blaine was admired as a confident, caring and hardworking leader, and we are committed to empowering young women to live and lead like her. We believe that helping young women become leaders is more important now than ever.
