On February 25, 2016, at the young age of 36, Nicole was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer. Nicole was diagnosed with an 8cm x 5cm tumor in her lung, bone mets, spine mets and 3 small brain mets. The news came as a devastating hit to a newly married couple who had just formed a new family togehter. This diagnosis changed her life along with everyone who loves her and who supports her. Nicole went from being an active mom who was involved in so many activities to a mom and wife who had to consistently fight for her life everyday just to see another day.
Lung cancer is incredibly underfunded and the number one cancer killer. The reason Nicole is thriving today is because of the advancements in research and new treatments that have been approved in the last few years. Nicole would like to continue to thrive, to see her children grow up and to make more precious memories with them. The Russell family consists of Nicole, her husband Jonathan and their 3 teenage children, Kaela, Adrian and Brandon. We desperately need more money raised for research. The stigma attached to Lung Cancer cripples the disease and the progress it can make. Team Draft has been a key factor in changing the face of lung cancer and Nicole would like nothing more then to raise money for both research through the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina and for Team Draft as Team Draft has done so much for the Russell Family over the past 20 months. Please help us help the future of Lung Cancer!
