Light The House

This beautiful lighthouse, officially named the Tarrytown Lighthouse but sitting off the shore of Sleepy Hollow, is a beautiful and iconic landmark just north of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

But it was the building of the then-new Tappan Zee Bridge that rendered the need for a lighthouse obsolete. Now that a new TZB is underway, we think it's high time to get a working lighthouse again, by putting the light back in this lovely building dating back to 1883.

The Village of Sleepy Hollow has secured a grant to fund part of the creation and installation of a full-scale replica of the original Lighthouse lens, but there's an additional ~$20K's worth of crowdsourcing needed to make this happen.

On this front, The Friends of Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse Corp (401c3) has been formed and a summer benefit party is in the works.

Save the date: Friday, June 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lighthouse itself with wine, beer, food, silent auction and raffle.

In the meantime, one party isn't going to cut it. So please help bring light to this lovely landmark by adding your support here. Any amount helps bring us closer to the LIGHT.
