Liberty Hall Museum sets the challenge to raise $10,000.00 as we introduce our inaugural fundraiser. We ask you to rise to the challenge and support The Liberty Hall Museum Fund as we set sail on our maiden voyage!

Each of us is a recipient of a shared legacy from all those who went before - those who had the foresight to not only preserve historic artifacts and property, but to make sure that it would endure for future generations to experience, enjoy and learn from.

To maintain our mission as a self-sustaining historic center dedicated to providing a unique experience that educates, entertains and excites, we must implement a major fundraising initiative. Help us soar to new heights! Your contribution, no matter what size, provides an immediate impact on the museum by helping meet the increasing costs of educating students and historic program development.

About Liberty Hall Museum:
Built on the eve of the American Revolution, Liberty Hall has been a silent witness to more than 200 years of American history. Home of New Jersey's first elected governor and signer of the constitution, William Livingston, Liberty Hall has been graced by many distinguished historical guests. George and Martha Washington, Ulysses S, Grant, William Howard Taft, Herbert Hoover, Gerald Ford and George Herbert Walker Bush to name but a few.

The museum chronicles New Jersey and American history through the experiences of the Livingston and Kean families and today, serves as an educational resource for our numerous school programs, community outreach initiatives and historically-minded visitors.

In 1925, Captain John Kean married Mary Alice Barney. The daughter of prominent New York architect John Stewart Barney, Mrs. Kean had a love of art and American history. When Captain Kean inherited Liberty Hall in 1932, the couple researched the history of the house and brought together family antiques to enhance its historic character. After the Captain's early death in 1949, Mrs. Kean began to transform the house into a museum.

In 1974, Mrs. Kean restored the name of the house to Liberty Hall, in honor of its being declared a National Historic Landmark. It was her dream that Liberty Hall be preserved for the benefit of future generations, and she inspired her children and grandchildren to make that dream a reality. The house stands today as a testament to her energy, vision and passion for history.
