ONE MONTH OUT!
May 18, 2016
Postpartum Progress means the world to me. It meant salvation and community when I suffered after Rebecca was born, it meant recovering and knowing I could have another baby and survive whatever we went through, the light that guided me when Lila was born and now it is my passion every day.
It is the mom I spoke to last night, who found me through my consistent posts on local message boards. It is the friend from the past who messages me on Facebook because I am so vocal and she just wants to support me, or the one who wants to ask a question about how she is feeling, or the one who is in need of a resource for herself, or a friend in her community. It is the mom who stops me at school pickup, or the park, or on the street to thank me for sharing my story. It is the Board that I proudly sit on, the Conference I attended that meant more to me than I can ever say, and the Warrior Mom friends I have made who support each other through the brightest - and darkest - moments of our lives.
In 2013, I led my first Climb Out of the Darkness with just family and close friends. I kept the cause fairly close to the vest. In 2014, I spoke up a bit more, emailed more extended friends, family and colleagues about my struggles, and grew my Climb. In 2015, I went all out - Facebook, emails, posters around town, and a goal of having three women at my Climb who had also suffered - and I was successful. I grew my Climb even more. This year? Watch out, Hoboken...
