BENEFITING: LEGAL SERVICES FOR NEW YORK CITY
ORGANIZER: LEGAL SERVICES FOR NEW YORK CITY
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
For almost 50 years, LSNYC has improved the lives and communities of low-income New Yorkers. As the country’s largest provider of free civil legal services, LSNYC solves both heart-wrenching individual problems—eviction, domestic violence, loss of income—and addresses their underlying causes through litigation and advocacy. Last year, our advocates helped more than 80,000 New Yorkers living in poverty secure the essentials of life: shelter, safety, subsistence income, and access to health care and education.
For the last three I have had the honor of partnering with LSNYC to represent fellow New Yorkers in desperate need of legal counsel. These cases have been the most fulfilling and important work of my short career. So this fall I'm putting my legs to work for LSNYC as well and running the New York City Marathon. And I sincerely hope you will all consider joining me.
As a member of Team LSNYC, you will be supporting the fight for vital legal services for thousands of New Yorkers living in poverty. Your donation will enable us to assist the most vulnerable and disadvantaged New Yorkers, help us preserve the diversity and uniqueness of our communities, and promote justice and fairness for all.
Every little bit helps and there is no donation too small. Now I know the desire to help your fellow New Yorkers is enough to incentivize you all, and I'm sure you've already all donated. But I'll sweeten the deal and make the following promises:
- Aside from my gratitude, anyone who donates before October 1, 2016 will have their initials printed on my Marathon Day running shirt. I won't be able to make my goal without your help, so I think it is only fitting that I bring you all with me on Marathon Day.
- If we exceed the fundraising goal of $3,500, I will release a classic training montage of my marathon preparation. Think Rocky, Karate Kid, Creed, Mulan, Bloodsport, G.I. Jane. It will be all of those and more.
Thank you so much for reading through this and thank you for your help. Let's do this.
