BENEFITING: FRIENDS WITHOUT A BORDER
Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) is pediatric hospital in Luang Prabang, Laos that provides high quality and compassionate healthcare free of charge to the children of Northern Laos. The healthcare professionals at LFHC strive to deliver the highest standard of healthcare possible for our patients. Whether that means fixing a broken bone, treating malnutrition, or curing an infectious disease, this all requires our staff to be trained to the highest level.
As LFHC begins its 3rd year of operation, we are equipped with the necessary medical equipment and hospital infrastructure. Our focus now is to develop the caliber of our Lao staff through leadership trainings and continued medical education. Our Lao staff are the core of the hospital and everyone is extremely hard working and eager to learn.
We have selected aspiring members of our Lao staff– from doctors and nurses to pharmacists and X Ray technicians – to participate in these trainings that will empower them to lead the hospital forward.
LFHC has built a partnership with Global Health Services Network, an international health consulting firm, who will deliver leadership training seminars for our new leaders. These courses are delivered by an internationally accredited instructor and will enable our staff to:
- Lead and coordinate in an emergency situation
- Use critical thinking to guide clinical decisions
- Coordinate a team to deliver care in our emergency room, inpatients and outpatients departments
- Mentor and teach junior staff in pediatric care
- Ensure that safe and professional standards of care are provided
This course is being provided at a cost of $20,000, which includes the initial one-week course plus two 5-day follow-ups to monitor progress and provide further guidance.
The first course will begin in early May and we need your help to secure the initial payment of $5000 by April 30th and the total amount of $20,000 by the end of May.
We believe that our Lao healthcare processionals are the future of success at this hospital and that investing in our future leaders is a large step towards making LFHC self-sufficient and sustainable.
We ask for your support in funding this program that will equip our future Lao leaders with the leadership skills necessary to run a sustainable hospital. In the long-term, training our Lao staff will ensure the children of Lao receive compassionate care for many years in the future.
Thank you very much for your support and believing in our cause!
