LA SED assists people of all ages with a variety of bilingual services. LA SED's leadership efforts are realized through the development of programs fit to address the issues that affect a diverse ethnic community as Southwest Detroit.
At LA SED, we view each individual as a person of worth and dignity entitled to every courtesy. We strive to be prompt, courteous, and accurate in the performance of our duties.
LA SED offers a wide range of programs and houses a variety of service agencies. Our staff assesses the needs of individuals and strives to provide them with assistance to resolve their particular need. Services include: Social, educational and economic advocacy; emergency food and shelter referrals; written translations; verbal translations; citizenship and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes; immigration and civil attorney consultations; and Department of Human Services assistance.
LA SED Senior Center assists people 60 years of age and older to help maintain an independent lifestyle in their own home. Our seniors meet for social, educational, recreational and cultural purposes in a congenial environment. The Center services seniors living within the LA SED service the area.
Programs include: Transportation to and from the Center, food and friendship program; free health screening services; special activities such as recreational, social and educational opportunities; intergenerational programs; social and emotional support; and distribution and networking of goods and services.
LA SED Youth Center serves youth under 21 years of age. Our bilingual staff and volunteers work with young people on a group and individual basis along with their families to help improve their quality of life.
Programs Include: Information and referral; tutoring; leadership training; recreational and sports activities; as well as summer employment and educational programs.
