I'm creating a team for ClimbAmerica on Saturday June 7th and I want your ass on it. Our team name is the Koala Kongs and we have the most bad-ass t-shirts you've ever seen. Check out the pictures. On that day, we will meet at FENWAY PARK and climb the steps of America's most iconic ballpark with hundreds of others to raise money and awareness for Brigham and Women's Hospital and the fight against heart disease. Feel free to bring a +one.
I'm doing this for basically two reasons.
First, because my good friends Eliza, Aymbre, and Brendan work for Climb Corps, the awesome organization putting on this event, and I want to support my friends in any way I can, especially if it involves exercise and having FUN. I did the last Climb America event in January at 53 State Street in Boston and it was a blast, so I know this one will be even better.
The second reason I'm doing this is because my mom, Sammie Lunt, whom you may know, suffered a heart attack about one year ago in December, 2012 at the young age of 53. I was literally minutes away from losing one of the greatest, most loving people I'll ever know and the individual responsible for--hold on, brain fart--oh ya, putting me on this earth and playing by far the biggest role in making me who I am. Not just who I am, but who my siblings, Eric and Nicki, are too! She's the kind of person who will hug you the minute she meets you no matter who you are, will laugh her ass off with you, and will treat you like her own. She's the kind of person you love to see again and again, but will only need to meet once to never forget. She's the kind of person whom without, my Dad would be a lost soul wandering the earth with no clean underwear or food to eat. Well, her artery had a 100% block. Luckily emergency personnel and doctors were able to save her life--although it would never be the same. I wish it didn't take a near-death experience, but after 40 straight years of it, she quit smoking cold-turkey (after many failed attempts through the years) and completely overhauled her diet for the sake of her achy-breaky heart and the people that would prefer to see her around for a while longer. I'm proud of her for making the changes she needed to make and immeasurably thankful that she is still here--cuz I was not ready for that shit. NOT UP IN HERE.
So come climb with me. Or if climbing's not your thing, DONATE!! If you do climb, don't be intimidated--this event is for all activity and fitness levels. You can run or walk, whatever you want. Anyone who gets a team shirt, I'll donate any proceeds I make to our team's fundraising total. They're awesome. Awesome.
Simply go to the page in the following link and click the big "DONATE" button to donate.
Or to participate, click the "REGISTER" button and you'll instantly have your own fundraising page as a part of our Team. BOOM DONE.
Please email/facebook me if you need help with anything, and with your t-shirt size if you want one.
Thanks and thumbs up for rockin' roll,
P.S. - Don't be afraid to create your own team if you want one!
