BENEFITING: INTERNATIONAL FOXG1 FOUNDATION
Kush is two and a half years old. He dreams of walking and playing with his older sibings. He is unable to do so now as he has FoxG1. We believe a cure will be found shortly, we invite you to be part of this journey that will transform Kush and other FoxG1 childrens lives.
FoxG1 syndrome is caused due to the mutation in a single Gene. This Gene itself is called FoxG1 and is on the 14q12 chromosome. We believe that with the current advances in genetics, a cure for FoxG1 is possible.
Researchers from MIT and CASE western Clevland Ohio are guiding the foundation to find a cure. We have a roadmap for the cure. We need to start working on this.
Dr. Manolis Kellis Head of Computational biology at MIT is working on an amazing analytical revolution that increases our understanding of genes exponentially.
Dr. Anthony Wynshaw Boris is an amazing doctor, scientist and researcher who has worked on 1. Disease modelling on mice models, 2. Autism and brain growth 3. Human stem cell models and 4. Chromosome replacement therapies.
These 4 steps along with an increased understanding of the functioning of FoxG1 Gene will allow researchers to find a cure for the condition.
Research costs anad timelines are also dropping exponentially. The below three reasons give us hope that we will have a cure for Kush real soon:
- What used to cost 50,000 in 2011 is now available for under $1,000 (Gene sequencing costs were ~$50K in 2011, $18K in 2012, and had dropped to $1K by 2014, these are cost less than $1K)
- What used to take years is now achived in days, (With CRISPR, the costs for and the time to edit genes has dramatically dropped.
- With dropping costs and increasing capabalities, there is a massive increase in genetic medecine and that means more researchers are woring at ways for other cures, this is maturing a lot of technological steps, and will directly help FoxG1 Cures as well.
Help us raise 100K by feb 2015 to give him a birthday present this Feb. We want to raise 100K by feb to start working on a cure for FoxG1.
TOGETHER WE CAN FIND A CURE.
