BENEFITING: Habitat for Humanity - New York, Inc.
EVENT: 2013 ING New York City Marathon
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
THE STORY:
As some of you may know, after a year of completing half marathons and 10Ks, I've automatically qualified to run the 26.2 mile New York City Marathon this fall through New York Road Runners' 9+1 program.
What started as a goal to knock something off of my 'bucket list' has now turned into something much greater, as I will be running my first marathon in honor of my best friend's father, Ken Cohen, who recently passed away.
Ken was an unbelievably amazing man filled with positivity, generosity and warmth, and I personally have been so blessed to have him and the Cohen family in my life. Ken always said how 'impressed' he was with my athletic endeavors, and since he knew of my plan to run the marathon, I can't think of a better way to honor him than to run this race in his memory.
I’m hoping you will help me complete my first marathon and celebrate Ken by making a (tax deductible) donation to Habitat for Humanity NYC, which Ken so generously supported. Information on the organization is below.

About Habitat for Humanity NYC:
Founded in 1984 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat-NYC builds in the five boroughs of New York City, building homes for ownership by families and individuals in need.
In addition to building homes, Habitat-NYC is a leading advocate for affordable housing. Our goal is to ensure that every New Yorker has a decent, affordable home, by creating a social movement to end the housing crisis plaguing New York City and by calling on elected officials to make affordable housing a priority.
