Who has made a difference in your life? In the words of Maya Angelou, "Among other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver." With this fundraiser, I hope to bring together a community of people who have made a difference in my life. The Pablove Foundation means so much to me and I am hoping to raise money to fund the remaining budget of the 2nd annual Pablove Shutterbugs summer camp this June where I will be returning as a counselor. I have been a mentor for Pablove Shutterbugs since it's inception and although I'm the one teaching the students (who have all been pediatric cancer patients) they have given me way more in return than they'll ever know. Last year was the first camp and the 26 kids had so much fun. I don't know who is more excited to go back this year between me and the students.
In coming up with the concept of this fundraiser, I have asked people that have made a difference in my community to be hosts of a team, and for them to ask someone to be their co-host. I would love for this fundraiser to reach out beyond people I know personally. And when leaving a donation, I'm requesting that everyone acknowledge someone in their life who has made a difference and if appropriate, share the message with them letting them know. Often times we go through life thinking people around us know what they mean to us and you never know what a small gesture of acknowledgement can do to make your community more connected and vibrant.
Thank you to everyone who has landed on this page and to everyone participating in this online community. If the goal of $10k is reached, I will be celebrating by hosting a photography show of my work from Africa, where the profit of photos and books sold will continue to benefit Pablove Shutterbugs. Thanks! Kelly
