Marathon and fundraising update
October 15, 2016
After my daughter, Holly, was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF) in 1998, I began running marathons to help find a cure for the condition. Holly is now 18 (hard to believe!), and there is still no cure nor an effective treatment, so the running continues. The San Antonio Marathon will be my 8th race to raise money for The Children’s Tumor Foundation.
For those who are not aware, Neurofibromatosis, or NF, encompasses a set of distinct genetic disorders that cause tumors to grow along various types of nerves anywhere on or in the body, causing in moderate to severe cases disfigurement; blindness; skeletal abnormalities; dermal, brain, and spinal tumors; loss of limbs; malignancies; and learning disabilities.
