Jubilee JumpStart: A Model of Care in the District
Jubilee JumpStart, located in Washington, D.C.’s busy Adams-Morgan neighborhood, provides high-quality early childhood care and education to nearly 50 infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
More than 90% of the brain develops by age 5, more than 80% by age 3. Quality early childhood environments create better education, health, social and economic outcomes, particularly for children from underserved communities.
DC has the nation’s highest cost of child center care, at just under $24K, which is more than a third of annual median city income of $66K. There is a need of 36,000 “seats” for children under 5 and only 8,200 available slots.
Seventy-five percent (75%) of Jubilee JumpStart's children are from households with low-incomes. We provide evidence‐based programs that address children’s social and emotional well‐being, in partnership with families and the community. We exceed the national standard for quality early learning with the highest rating from the NAEYC - National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our program offers dual‐language English‐Spanish instruction in every class.
