BENEFITING: THE BOSTON EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION INC
EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
THE STORY:
I am running the 2014 Boston Marathon to support the Joseph Lee K8 School in Dorchester. The school 's population is comprised of approximately 90% free/reduced lunch and also consists of 150 students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is the largest public school for students with autism that isn't a specialized special needs school.
Every dollar donated goes directly to the school, In the past, the funds have been used to provide tutoring to students who need it out of school time hours, purchase materials for our special needs population such as sensory materials, velcro, gross motor equipment, and purchase student books they can use in their classroom libraries -- reading for pleasure type books.
Though my son does not have Autism, he has a similar disorder and I understand the challenges these children and their school face. My hope is to raise funds to help these children find their voice and find success.
The Team: $3,308 TOTAL RAISED SO FAR
