Fighting to Breathe
Organized by: Jordan Combs
EVENT DATE Jan 24, 2016
Hi, I am Jordan Combs and I have asthma, vocal cord dysfunction, tracheomalacia and left broncheomalacia. This all means that when I start coughing, I don't stop. The vocal cord dysfunction means that my vocal cords spasm and close up which prohibits me from breathing. I have to cough in order to get oxygen into my lungs. Tracheomalacia means that my trachea is not completely open making it hard to breath. Left broncheomalacia means that my left bronchial is partically closed so its hard for me to even breath from my left lung. The asthma adds on to make it even harder for me to breath. I have been life flighted only once from this but it is getting increasingly worse and I barely even made it when I was life flighted. Some times the cold can set off all of this or even smoke or strong chemicals. Just standing by someone who is smoking makes me go to the hospital. All of the funds will go to hospital bills present and future because sadly this is something I will have all my life.
Due to my condition I can't do everyday things without the worries of coughing and having to go to the hospital. It even keeps me out of school if I start to cough and have to go to the hospital which has significantly make my schooling suffer in the recent years. Since I entered high school I knew I wanted to be a petroleum engineer. I fear that may not be possible because of the conditions the job requires. I know that being a petroleum engineer might not be the most practical dream job but it was mine. The whole time I have had this my parents and brother have been by my side. My parents practically put their lives on hold just to help me. My mom has taken me to the hospital every time I needed and they have talked to several doctors. They even took me to National Jewish Hospital to get tests done on me to see what we can do. Sadly being in the hospital and doctors appointments take quite a bit of money. The reason I even did this fundraiser is to help them with the expences. They have had to pay for over 200 hospital visits and extra to see specialists that tried to help me. They even might have to pay for moving costs so I can leave Wyoming and go to Georgia to get out of the cold. People say they wish they can help and now they can. The gift of life is the most important gift there is.
Please if you can donate to this fund and if you can't that's fine even praying for me helps. Thank you all for taking the time to look at my fund. Have a wonderful day/night.
