The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is more than a race. It’s a rockin’ run with bands along the route, thousands of cheering fans and a post race concert, all to benefit the John Volken Academy. Music makes up the heart and “sole” of this annual event. Live bands perform a variety of music from alternative, classic and punk rock to blues, jazz and soul every couple kilometers along the race course. This event sells out at 12,500 runners and walkers.
By supporting Team Volken in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Vancouver Half Marathon & Cunningham Seawall 10K, you are helping to change the lives of young men and women at the John Volken Academy.
About the John Volken Academy
The John Volken Academy is a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment center for young men and women aged 18-34 that goes far beyond other treatment centers. Our residents overcome their addictions, as well as further their education, receive extensive career training, and gain all the tools they need for a happy and successful life of sobriety. There are currently three academies in Surrey, BC, Canada; Gilbert, Arizona; and Kent, Washington. The program’s affordability is at the heart of its purpose. Other than a relatively small one-time admittance fee, the entire cost of the 2-year+ program is paid for by the John Volken Foundation.
This includes the housing, food, job training, education, counseling, and more.
Our mission is to be a world leader in providing the most effective and most affordable addiction recovery program teaching relevant life and job skills and instilling in each of our students the desire to always be the best that they can be for themselves, for their families, and for their community.
