BENEFITING: SOUTH NASSAU COMMUNITIES HOSPITAL
EVENT DATE: Sep 25, 2016
My Mom, Josephine Nista Calderone, died of stomach cancer at the age of 68. She was a dedicated NYC school teacher for more than 20 years, teaching at elementary schools in Queens where she also was a devoted Mom, raising three children. One of nine, she grew up in the Bronx and was among the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a degree from Columbia Teachers College. I am walking in her honor on Sept. 25th in the hospital 5K in Oceanside to raise funds for the South Nassau Communities Hospital Gertrude & Louis Feil Cancer Center. The money will go to help patients impacted by the disease.
