Hi, I am Jessica Chow (17 years old) and I have just been selected for volunteering for a whole year with Project Trust! PLEASE SUPPORT!

Project Trust is a registered charity (charity no. SCO 25668) who gives young volunteers an amazing opportunity to volunteer for a whole year in countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas! It is the original gap year organisation set up in 1967 and is the only gap year charity to specialize in sending volunteers oversees for an entire year after leaving school.

As an explorer who enjoys traveling and learning about other cultures and languages, it’s no surprise that I found great interest in the Project Trust Programme.

Originally I did not intend to take a gap year, however, when I heard about this programme I found it a great opportunity to gain confidence, independent skills and increase my knowledge in a way that would be difficult to do after university education.

As I wish to pursue art in the future, I hope to use my Project Trust year to build an interesting unique portfolio for art where being in another country allows me to collect first-hand information including photos of surrounding landscape and culture..

In Sri Lanka I would be working alongside The Senahasa Trust charity which was set up in 2005, following the devastating tsnami that damaged the south coast of the island. I will be teaching English to primary school to secondary school ages plus possibly additional extra-curricula such as art, maths or music.

I have just been selected to participate on this amazing programme for 2013, however, the challenge has just started! I need to raise £5,400. This money would go towards support overseas and insurance.
