For those who did not get a chance to know Jack....
John Joseph (Jack) Connors passed away on October 19, 2012 in Hoboken, New Jersey after a short battle with a gastrointestinal disease. He was residing in Weehawken, NJ at the time of his death. Jack was born in Danbury on September 7, 1976 and grew up in New Fairfield. He graduated from New Fairfield High School where he excelled in sports and was named the Rebel Booster Club Athlete of the Year his senior year. He then moved on to graduate from Sacred Heart University.
For those who did not get a chance to see Jack on the diamond....
Jack played under Jeff Castaldi and Mike Garbowski in 1993 and 1994 for the New Fairfield Rebels. Jack was New Fairfield's second basemen and leadoff batter both years. He was named Captain his senior year in '94. Jack was known for his speed on the bases. In his two year varsity career, Jack helped create the name, "Running Rebels" for our New Fairfield High School Program due to the amount of stolen bases we had as a team in the WCC – Western Connecticut Conference. Jack's talent and leadership helped lead the 1994 Rebels to the state finals where they ended their season in second place. To this date, the '94 team is the only New Fairfield High School baseball team to go that far in the state play-offs.
