There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you….
MS is my Super Power.
In early July 2017, I woke up with a significant loss of vision in my right eye. I was diagnosed with optic neuritis. After a long hospital stay with multiple MRI’s and a lot of steroid treatments, I was sent home to figure out what’s next.
I was diagnosed with relapsing multiple sclerosis. Thousands of questions ran through my head. I was scared this disease would progress quickly and I would be dealing with extremely debilitating circumstances.
All I could think was, “I have a daughter to raise! I can’t let this stop me.”
So – I did the thing that made the most sense to me. I signed up for the 2018 Ironman in Cambridge, Maryland on September 29.
I am determined to complete a full Ironman. I want to help inspire others with MS to stay active.I work out 6 times a week and always try to eat well. I love endurance training.
Some of my personal fitness accomplishments include an Olympic plus triathlon, 70.3-mile triathlon, and the Philadelphia marathon. I enjoy martial arts and my absolute favorite thing to do is teach kickboxing. I recently took a break from teaching to concentrate on my health this year.
I won't give up.
I have decided to raise funds, during my training, for the National Stem Cell Foundation. Help me to help others by raising money for stem cell research. Advancements across many neurological diseases as well as cancers can be made with your help.
We all know someone who has been impacted by a terminal or chronic illness.Let’s make a difference together. ❤
