Here's How it Works

Spinning for Santa Cyclethon - The California Challenge!

On Saturday Dec 8th from 10am to 8pm, our Spinning for Santa Cyclethon will attempt to cycle a total distance of 780 miles which is the length of California, North to South as the crow flies!! This will be a combined effort taking place on five Spinning/ Excercise Bikes we will have located at the Old Sod in Normal Heights. Participants sign up at the link above for their favorite County Team for 30 minutes slots. The first half of the event (10am to 3pm) will take place in front of the Ould Sod where all ages can take part. The second half of the event (3pm to 8pm) moves to the back patio and is 21+. As long as you are of moderate fitness and can cycle for 30 minutes, we encourage you to sign up. We will have people across a range of fitness levels taking part so we do not need everyone racing for 30 minutes to hit the target!

Worldwide Run

The Worldwide Run is a fun initiative for those in San Diego but also in Ireland and the Rest of the World to support Irish You a Merry Christmas. Register for your favorite County Team and run a mile (or more) between Dec 1 and Dec 8 at a location of your choice. Send us a photo at your location around the world and we will pin your location and photo on our virtual map available to view at www.irishyouamerrychristmassd.org/milesforsmiles (at the bottom of the page).

*Email you photo along with your name, location, and any message you would like to share to help@irishoutreachcenter.org or post it on the Miles for Smiles Facebook Event Page HERE and we will have your location pin and photo added to the Miles for Smiles World Map at the bottom of this page. (We can also include a map of your route, etc if you use a running app like Map My Run or Strava).

Registration for both events is $25. When you register you will also be able to create a profile if you wish, to allow you fundraise for your efforts among your friends and family. All funds raised will support Irish You a Merry Christmas San Diego.

Irish You a Merry Chistmas San Diego is a charitable intiative of The Irish Outreach Center and the San Diego Gaelic Atheltic Association, with the support of the entire San Diego Irish Community which brings the magic of Christmas to those who need it most at this time of year. All guests receive a wholesome Christmas dinner, while our Green Irish Santa provides sporting equipment, educational materials, and toys for all the children. Check out the video below. This year's Irish You a Merry Christmas San Diego (www.irishyouamerrychristmassd.org) takes place on Saturday, December 15th at Bayside Elementary School in Imperial Beach, San Diego County, the most southerly city in the United States. Irish You a Merry Christmas is entirely volunteer run. Your support of Miles For Smiles makes this event possible, and all funds raised go directly to the event.
