iPads for Driggs Elementary School
Organized by: Julia Baynes
EVENT DATE Nov 03, 2015
This is Ms. Cipriano’s fourth grade class at Driggs Elementary School, an inner-city school in Waterbury, CT.
Ms. Cipriano is one of 40 teachers at Driggs School that serves 547 students from Pre-K through Grade 5.
The Waterbury Public School System demographics are consistently lower than statewide averages each year. Moreover, 95% of schools in CT have a lower dropout rate than Waterbury.
Ms. Cipriano believes that getting the students to be interested and excited to learn at the elementary school level will have a direct effect on their performance in years to come.
This is why we would like to raise $1,000 in 30 days to buy as many iPads as possible to provide to Driggs Elementary School.
Ms. Cipriano and fellow teachers intend to use the iPads as a reward for students who are well-behaved, academically advanced, or shown progress in the classroom; an incentive for students to stay engaged.
This will hopefully generate a long term effect by creating a habit of good classroom behavior throughout the student’s academic career.
The more iPads we can provide, the more incentive students have to stay focused!
