PTA Texas Congress aka Haltom High School PTSA's Fundraiser:

Ipad's for Autism

I am looking to raise funds for 10 Ipad's for the Special Education department.
Coyote Ridge Elementary school is working hard to raise funds for ipad's for our Special Education department. Monies, ipad's, or gift cards donated will be going directly to our Special Education department. This department would fully benefit from these ipad's. It has been proven that children more effectively communicate with the use of an ipad, if they have Autism, or any other learning deficit. I have included some very shocking statistics.

The rise of the ipad is proving to have unforseen benefits for children with speech and communication problems. The ipad is a remarkable tool for children with Autism or other Special needs, their parents, & therapists. The touch interface helps greatly with kids who have difficulty verbally communicating their wants and needs.

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability with difficulties in social interaction, impaired communication, restricted and repetitive interests and behaviours and sensory sensitivities. Most kids have no functional speech, they can be found playing alone, if given trains they will often be found pushing the trains back and forth, having no interest in other children or their environment, often screaming if their routine is disrupted.   More children will be diagnosed with Autism than any other disease like AIDS, Diabetes, and Cancer combined. 1 in 110 children will be diagnosed with an Autism spectrum disorder. Boys are 4 times more likely to have Autism.   If you have time, please view this video: http://www.ipads4autism.com/jacob.html (grab some tissue!)    Thank you so much for your support!
