As most of you probably know, for the past year I've had the honour of working at the Lao Friends Hospital for Children, a small hospital doing all it can to provide free health care, build capacity, and raise the standard of health care for the children of Laos. Now as you probably also know, I really hate running. Unless I am running to chase a frisbee, you can bet that I am probably hating it after about the first 100m. Nonetheless, on October 23rd, I will be running in the Luang Prabang Half Marathon to raise money for our hospital. That's right, I will be voluntarily forcing myself to run about 20.9km further than I want to. Why? Because of the kids. Because that's how much I care about and believe in what this hospital is doing. And I would love it if you would also care about it, just enough to make a small donation to my sweat-soaked cause. Every $20 raised can cover the cost for a child to stay overnight and receive necessary medical and nursing care in our hospital - often that day and night can save a life. There is no minimum donation - any amount helps. Plus I'll probably give you sloppy kiss and a brownie next time I see you. So if you don't do it for the kids, do it for the brownies and we'll just say it was for the kids.
