Information bestows power; at risk communities need information as much as water, food and medicine or shelter.

-- Markku Niskala, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)

With what is becoming increasingly known as an exponentially dynamic and expanding Information Age, and with such subsequent and increasing international controversies surrounding rights to information (RTI), the influence of citizen and social media on international events, the prevalence of new (and often instant) information aggregation, analysis, and dissemination technologies during and following crisis, conflict and disaster, and the need for accuracy, responsibility and transparency of information among international stakeholders, research into the uses, abuses and power of information in the international sphere is increasingly important.

The International Information Policy Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity in the United States founded in late 2010, via critical research and the International Journal for Media and Information Policy (MIPJ), launching online on 1/1/2012, and in print and digital editions on 6/1/2012, (http://www.iipfoundation.org) seeks to better identify and research the role of information in international and humanitarian affairs.

Please donate during this online fundraising drive to help us better examine the role of information--including its use and abuse--in the international sphere.
