BENEFITING: Human Rights Campaign NYC Marathon Team
ORGANIZER: Human Rights Campaign NYC Marathon Team
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
I am excited to be running with Athletes for Equality in the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon to raise funds for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation. HRC works to enhance the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people and their families by changing hearts and minds across America and around the globe. HRC works on the policy level to affect positive change by increasing understanding and encouraging adoption of LGBTQ-inclusive policies and practices.
I am passionate and dedicated to this fight for equality. Last year was a pivotal year for gay rights with marriage equality, but there is still so much to be done. I will continue to do my part until I know that people who are LGBTQ are not discriminated against, cannot be fired from their job because of who they are, can adopt and foster children without struggle, can use a public restroom of the gender they identify with, and most importantly can be open, honest and safe while ensured of their basic human rights.
The NYC Marathon is on November 6th, two days before the next presidential election. This election is critical for protecting the progress made on equality and continuing to promote pro-LGBTQ legislative priorities. HRC has worked tirelessly to inform America on the detriment to the LGBTQ community if anti-equality Donald Trump gets elected. I have faith in our country rallying enough to not let this happen. Love trumps hate!
Please support me as I run on the right side of history. A tax-deductible donation of ANY amount will help the Human Rights Campaign continue their work towards equal rights. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
