BENEFITING: HUERFANO COMMUNITY CORPORATION
Earlier this year, Huerfano County granted a conditional use permit to Shell Western Exploration and Production, Inc. (SWEPI), a unit of Royal Dutch Shell, to drill a 14,500-foot-deep, hydraulically-fracked, multi-zone exploratory well near the town of La Veta despite widespread objections and calls for a moratorium on drilling.
The threat is real... If Shell makes a significant discovery of natural gas at this site, the Klikus well could mark the beginning of a much larger oil & gas rush that could quickly transform Huerfano County. Without adequate protections in place, this rural county could become another oil & gas sacrifice zone like others around Colorado and the country.
Help us wage the legal battle to challenge this permit and build a broader coalition of individuals and organizations opposed to Hydraulic Fracturing in our State!
