The Humane Society Waterville Area serves 24 communities in Central Maine. Our mission is to shelter animals until they find permanent homes, to educate the community about responsible pet ownership, and to advocate for the humane treatment of all animals. We save lives everyday here at HSWA. This is just one example of our lifesaving capabilities.
In late December 2018 brother and sister husky duo Kane and Kiara tested positive for Parvovirus (which is very contagious and often fatal). Kane went into isolation at our facility and Kiara went to Animal Emergency and Specialty Care in Portland. With excellent care provided by the emergency facility and the love and support of our animal care team, Kane and Kiara went on to make a full recovery. They tested negative for parvo after treatment and have now settled in as permanent members of the family that fostered them on their journey to a clean bill of health!
The support of our communities made it possible for us to save the lives of these two incredible dogs. Your contributions today make saving more lives possible tomorrow!
