Many animals arrive at HSSA with conditions that make their immediate adoption impossible. Years ago, these animals would have been euthanized because of the cost of their care. That is no longer the case. Whether through abuse and neglect, because of a chronic medical condition or accident, or because of the age of the animal, these animals need extra special care and love to prepare them for the next stage in their life. HSSA’s Second Chance Program provides that care, and the program’s on-going success is a critical component in achieving our mission and vision.
Second Chance is an exciting initiative that has helped more than 1,000 animals that might have previously have been euthanized INSTEAD find forever homes.
The Second Chance program provides more than $220,000 in funds for additional surgeries and care each year. Demand is currently higher than our available funds, and that's where YOU come in!
