The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is a no-kill animal welfare agency in Dayton, Ohio. We are the oldest, most-established animal agency in the Miami Valley and have been helping people and pets since 1902 - that's 117 years!
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we do not receive any government funding and we are not associated with any other organization on a regional, state or national level including the Humane Society of the United States. This means that all of our programs and services are fully funded through donations from individuals, companies and grants.
We are the only organization in our community helping all types of animals. From cats, dogs and rabbits to farm animals, exotic pets, pocket pets and more, it is our mission to ensure that all animals are valued and free from suffering. We have a Cruelty & Neglect Department that investigates nearly 500 cases of abuse each year.
In addition to protecting animals from harmful situations, we work to find thousands of animals forever homes every year. We are proud to have a save rate of 98% and as a limited-intake shelter, an animal stays with us until they find their home.
We also work diligently to battle overpopulation problems in our community. Through spay/neuter services that we provide to the animals in our care as well as to owned animals we lower unwanted litters. We have a Trap-Neuter-Return Program where we also proactively spay or netuer community cats.
