BENEFITING: Tompkins County Public Library Foundation, Inc.
Dear friends, colleagues, and community members,
This year I am (on behalf of A Writer's Alchemy) participating in the 2014 READATHON for the Tompkins County Public Library. I am so excited about sharing my love for the written word with all of you. My half hour slot is from 5:00-5:30 on Saturday, September 27, 2014. I will be reading Dr. Martin Luther King's, "Letter From Birmingham Jail." I have always been concerned with what is just, but when I read this I began to understand community. As Dr. King said, "A threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." I am committed to the cause of literacy; both reading and writing. I am committed to justice. I am committed to community. I first read "Letter..." in 1970. I was ten years old.
I want to raise $1,000.00 as my part of the READATHON. Give what you can. Help me help the Library serve its mission. Come join me on Saturday, the 27tj at 5:00pm. Come listen as I share the commitment, and brilliance of Dr. King!
