Who We Are
Founded in 1982, H.O.M.E. is a one-of-a-kind Chicago organization that fosters joy, independence, and connection for older adults with low incomes.
What We Do
H.O.M.E. helps Chicago’s low-income older adults to live independent and socially engaged lives by providing intergenerational housing, home repair services, a shopping bus, moving assistance, and caring volunteers.
Why We Exist
A growing number of older adults lack the support necessary to meet the most basic needs of housing, food, and transportation. Older adults with low incomes have few housing options besides age-restricted senior-only developments, despite demand for alternatives in all neighborhoods. Regardless of age, being active, independent and socially engaged enhances an individual’s health and quality of life. Older adults flourish when they are treated with great respect, compassion, and acceptance.
H.O.M.E.’s vision is of a Chicago in which people of all ages live together in a way that supports older adults’ connection to the larger community.
Your donation will support a vibrant community where people of all ages are valued and engaged.
There is no other organization in the City of Chicago that provides housing and housing support services to low-income seniors. Your gift will do more than give someone a safe place to call home. Your gift will foster joy, hope, and independence for low-income seniors. That is a priceless gift.
