In these difficult and complex times it is estimated that 1 in 7 elderlies can die from COVID-19. We need your help TODAY to collect USD 3,132,000 to protect them. Hogar de Cristo welcomes more than 4,500 older adults in hostels, residences and home support programs. Furthermore, a significant part of the 15,000 people served by the Hograr de Cristo who live on the streets are also elderlies.

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
The COVID-19 outbreak had its first contagion in Chile on March 3rd and its expansion has been sustained. As a society we have a great responsibility and commitment to the most disadvantaged, for this reason we have implemented an emergency fund COVID-19 that will allow us to finance the special measures we must adopt to ensure the continuity of the programs. These measures together with the complex situation in which we find ourselves, means a total of USD 3,132,000 we need to collect from you.

HOW WILL THIS PROJECT SOLVE THE PROBLEM?
The elderlies we welcome have health difficulties and different pathologies associated with poverty and social exclusion. All of them need medical support and protection to fight the pandemic that affects Chile and the entire world. We will allocate resources to the purchase of more than 10,000 masks, 7,000 bottles of alcohol gel, 200 digital thermometers, a specially prepared feeding pouch, isolation suits, concentrators. oxygen kits and also to maintain the daily expenses of our programmes.

POTENTIAL LONG-TERM IMPACT
Hogar de Cristo's network of services encourages the development and maintenance of the functionalities of elderlies, favouring their individual, family and community capacities, to improve their level of social inclusion and quality of life. Our programs, are aimed at those who are in a situation of poverty and exclusion, and who also have some level of dependency. Our main concern at the moment is to protect them from COVID-19 and to increase their life expectancy.
