BENEFITING: Family Services of Westchester, Inc.
Port Chester Cares is a group of individuals, invested in the community, working together in the area of the Port Chester School District to promote positive, safe, productive and healthy lives for all. We achieve this through research, education, and advocacy and by focusing our resources to reduce youth substance abuse and other high risk behavior and promote positive outcomes.
Take a look at how we work around the community.
Free Film Night is an evening when you can come and spend some quality time together as a family watching a free movie at Ryan Stadium at Port Chester High School. Spending time as a family decreases the likelihood that a child will engage in risky behaviors.
LifeSkills Training (LST) is a research-validated substance abuse prevention program proven to reduce the risks of alcohol, tobacco, drug abuse, and violence. We currently teach it to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Port Chester High School in collaboration with the Port Chester Police Department.
First Fridays is an opportunity for families to go out together for dinner. PCC offers key cards to all families in Port Chester which allows them to visit participating restaurants on the first Friday of every month and get a 10-15% discount. Children who eat with their family 5 or more times per week are 50% less likely to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or smoke marijuana.
