BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF THE VERONA STREET ANIMAL SHELTER
EVENT DATE: Jun 04, 2016
Hello. I am raising money to help support an organization that I find meaningful, Verona Street Animal Services. The funds raised will go to the auxiliary arm, Friends of Verona Street Animal Services, which provides support that exceeds the capacity of what a city run and city funded establishment can offer. This shelter takes in all the city’s unwanted animals without prejudice. The money raised will help in getting animals adopted, educating the community on the importance of spay or neutering, and providing animals with the best chance of finding a furever (ha ha, punny) home.
Our interest in Verona Street can be attributed to a special cat named Garbage. He was our neighborhood stray that would make his rounds looking for food or affection (usually food). When Garbage wouldn’t come around for a few days we would panic. We’d be so worried that he got picked up by the city or he was hit by a car. A friend suggested we check at Verona Street’s web site, as she was a volunteer. She spoke fondly of the organization and I decided to check out what volunteering was all about. The rest is history.
A happy side note, we have since adopted Garbage and he is spoiled rotten. Here is his instagram account: www.instagram.com/garbage_the_cat
Now I spend every Wednesday night and Saturday with some of the best people Rochester has to offer. Every volunteer brings a different skillset but the same passion and love for animals. I’m always amazed at the dedication and commitment the VSAS volunteers bring to the lives of these animals.
“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”
I plan on matching all the money raised up to $250 dollars, so if you give $10, the organization will really get $20. That’s like half off!
Thank you for reading.
