Helping Kelly and Noah in a time of need.
Organized by: Kelly Hennessy-Heinz
Hi everyone, if you don't know me my name is Kelly Hennessy-Heinz. I am a single Mom with a wonderful 12 year old named Noah. I am on disability for many problems I have health wise and just making it as many on disability do. We found ourselves moving to North Carolina in March from Annapolis, MD do to losing our home , mine of 34 years because of foreclosure. I always have had the belief that God has a purpose for all things, sadly I find my faith dwindling. I have been sick since moving to NC being I have been in and out of the hospital and having to see different specialist. Recently I thought I was on the road to recovery do to wonderful doctors. But on October 22nd that all changed. I was driving to the next town over in a 1995 Ford Explorer when it caught on fire in the passenger area. Thank God Noah was at school. I was able to stop the vehicle while I was in flames , unhooked jumped out and rolled. Some wonderful people pulled me to safety before the car started to explode. I would love to thank the man in the Orange shirt that held and comforted me while in hysterics and pain, plus the loss of my vehicle knowing I only had liability insurance.. He held me and told me it was going to be OK until the EMT's arrived. I also would like to thank the gentleman in the midst of all this who handed me a check for 150.00 dollars to rebuild. Thanks you so very much to all involved the Citizens, Firemen, Police and EMT's you are all a blessing. I was taking to the local ER where i was medicated and the next I knew I was in the ICU burn unit at Chapel Hill. I don't remember the life flight or surgery. I ended up with 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 25% of my body, my skin was grafted with my own and animal skin. The pain is excruciating, I just can't explain and my heart goes out to anyone that has ever had to suffer through this. I come to Crowdrise because we are desperate, with barely any family, no parents and just the kiddo and I in a new town we are stuck without a vehicle or money for one. Also the expenses that will incur from having to offer gas money for rides to doctors, pharmacies and grocery. I just don't know what to do about Christmas either for my son. He has been through so much for such a young age I feel like such a failure as a Mom. I have a service dog Dottie Spot because I suffer mobility problems because of neuropathy and the need of two knee replacements. Now I will need her even more being the burns are mainly on my leg , also on my abdomen and hand and arm. Sadly I lost her harness that cost 300.00 dollars as well in the fire. Another blessing that she wasn't with me that day. Additional cost will incur for PT being my insurance doesn't cover it all. We are looking at a long struggle here and just need help to be able to get through it. Anything even 5 dollars would benefit us. I am not looking to buy a new vehicle just a beater that is safe and will get us around and fit Dottie Spot which is a Great Dane. We are 15 miles from the closest general store living in the middle of a National Forest, it takes the EMT's 30 minutes or longer to reach us. We felt this would be the right decision for us as far as where to move. It is so hard being away from all we know without the support of long time friendships, but it is all I thought we could afford, sadly we are already just making it. Being that I have been sick and have almost died in a 4 month period twice has not helped the fact that I have wanted to find part time work to get us by. So I come to you as humbled as can be, begging you to help my son and I. We don't want anything fancy or anything extra material wise, we want to just live with the security of my health getting better and a vehicle to get us to where we need to be. We have all the material things we need. Well it would be nice to get Noah a few things for Christmas, if any child is deserving it is him. He has been scared to death I will leave him. Thank you for your time and God Bless, Kelly
