Did you know there are approximately 49 million Americans struggling with food insecurity every single day? Many of those very people who are struggling are those who are working part-time or even full-time job but simply aren’t able to maintain food on the table for themselves and their family.
Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank is a local organization who has made it their mission to help families in the East Valley who are struggling with the overwhelming problem of hunger. Matthew’s Crossing with the support of volunteers and passionate team members have been able to feed more than 7,000 people in need on a monthly basis. Aside from there food pantry, a recent program has been established to help provide meals to children who are in need at school, called Meals to Grow. They are able to combat hunger in school-aged children in two ways, by providing over 300 backpacks to local schools each week for children to take home over the weekend so they may have proper access to food along with in Chandler, they have created a food closet in Hamilton High school so that when a child visits the counseling office and says they don’t have access to food at home the counselor can provide them with a nourishing meal.
Since its inception in 2001 Mathews Crossing has become a beacon of hope in our community for all those who are in need of a warm friendly smile and proper nourishment to continue on life’s journey. “Our agency too wants to help the ongoing efforts of Matthew’s Crossing and help secure the most basic of needs for the hardworking people in our community”. – Joe Kennedy
