Help Get Yuba To His New Home!
Organized by: Katherine Marie
As most of you know Yuba and I both have a form of Ataxia, and are getting MARRIED!!! In lieu of a wedding shower we are starting a fundraising mission to help with the financial costs associated with the K1 Visa. There are many costs associated that we most likely cant afford without your help! Yuba must go through a medical exam, many trips to Rabat to meet with the US Embassy, and not to mention the astounding cost of airfare. If you could help us with this experience we will forever be grateful!
Here is our story:
Many little girls dream of their wedding all their lives, however I didn’t. It was never a dream of mine to get married, until I met Yuba. In 2013, I was diagnosed with an unknown type of Spinocerebellar Ataxia. After a period of disbelief, anger and unbelievable hurting, I knew how this disease would rob me of the things I took for granted like walking, talking and writing. I sought out support from others afflicted with this disease and that’s when I met Yuba. After being in a long term relationship that just ended I was in no way looking for a happily ever after. Little did I know, God had different plans for me. I immediately met Yuba, a Moroccan, who had a different type of the disease. He lived thousands of miles away. So finding love was far from my mind. I needed a friend who understood what I was facing, so we started talking, everyday for hours. 6 months later I was planning my 2 week trip to meet him. He proposed to me on the beach in Agadir, Morocco June 3, 2015. We know we will face many adversities, and there may even come a time when we can’t take care of each other, but we would rather have each other for a short while then to never experience this dream. Giving someone a piece of your soul is better than giving a piece of your heart, because souls are eternal. — Helen Boswell
