The Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center (FPCAC) is a non-profit organization, which provides quality arts instruction to 600 under-served students, age 8-20 years old, in South Los Angeles. FPCAC teachers provide a program filled with structure and well planned curriculum to help their students build self-esteem, develop civic responsibility and learn to apply the same dedication and commitment to their academic efforts.
In support of Fernando Pullum and his team’s efforts at FPCAC, I am competing in the Ironman Lake Placid on July 24, 2016. The race entails a Swim of 2.4 miles, a Ride of 112 miles and a Run of 26.2 miles.
To make a larger impact, Donna and I will be matching every dollar donated up to $10,000. We hope that you will join us in supporting this terrific organization.
Please donate. Your gift will be important, impactful and tax deductible.
- Important: Performing Arts assist in children’s development and enriches the lives of the community. Arts, including theatre, are vital to a well-rounded education and person. Yet, many local public schools offer little to no performing arts programs. Arts instruction has been proven to a.) Raise test scores b.) Improve reading and communication skills c.) Improve school attendance d.) Reduce High School drop outs
- Impactful: These donations will allow 45 jazz students to gain access to both instruments and practice time. Donations will also help put cameras in the hands of 60 film students. Film allows students to heal via the documentation of their personal stories. It also helps FPCAC to better understand the challenges faced by inner city youth. FPCAC has assisted thousands of children in gaining acceptance to college. Four students of the program have won Grammys. FPCAC feeds the homeless monthly. FPCAC supports other community-based events i.e., empowerment for women, prom dress giveaways, father/daughter dances.
- Tax deductible: Your donation is tax deductible and you will automatically be emailed a receipt once you donate.
I could not be prouder to compete for the Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center and ask you all to join me by donating to this worthy cause.
