EVENT: Maryland Gives More 2015
EVENT DATE: Dec 01, 2015
Empower students. Eliminate health care disparities. Support MERIT.
Five years ago MERIT started longitudinally supporting under-represented high school students who aspire to become medical professionals. For the first time our alumni are preparing to apply to graduate school! This #GivingTuesday and holiday season we are aiming to raise $15K to provide all of our alumni with the opportunity to take high quality test prep courses, which are typically only available to their more affluent peers. Donations of all sizes help.
- $25 purchases an MCAT or GRE Prep Book
- $50 sponsors one hour of 1:1 tutoring
- $100 provides one class in a test prep course
Our alumni are committed to becoming health care change agents in Baltimore. Pereviva, a senior at McDaniel, plans to become a clinical psychologist dedicated to serving children with special needs in Baltimore City. After completing an internship at Kennedy Krieger this summer, she is starting to study for the GRE, and will be applying to PhD programs in clinical psychology next year. Maame, a junior at Salisbury University, plans to become a cardiologist so that she can eliminate disparities related to heart disease. After getting a 4.0 last semester, she’s starting to study for the MCAT. An investment in the future of Pereviva, Maame, and other MERIT alumni, is a long term investment in the health of Baltimore.
MERIT is a 501©3 located in Baltimore City. To learn more, visit our website, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. MERIT has been featured in the Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Business Journal, Bloomberg View, and several other media outlets
