Heal Corduroy's Heart
Organized by: North Jersey Community Animal Shelter
Corduroy (AKA Roy) was brought to the shelter by Animal Control after a local business owner reported seeing him sitting behind his shop, in the same spot, for two days. Unfortunately, no one ever came back for this devoted guy. When we took his to the vet to get him his check up and get him ready for adoption, we found out that Roy had tested positive for heartworm disease. Heartworm disease is a preventable disease when given the proper care, that dog's can contract through the bite of an infected mosquito. The heartworms travel through the dog's bloodstream and take up residency in the dog's heart, eating away at the healthy heart tissue. Heartworm disease can be cured through a series of medical treatments and the Corduroy can go on to live a long, happy, and healthy life. The medication and treatment is expensive and, as a municipal shelter full of other adoptable animals that need medical care as well, we just don't have the funds. That is why we are looking to our amazing community of supporters to help raise the funds we need to Heal his Heart! Corduroy has such a big, strong heart already and we believe that once he is healed and healthy that we can find a family that is worthy of his love and loyalty! Any donation amount can help! So please spread the word and thank you so much for your help and support!
