EVENT DATE: Apr 30, 2014
It's that time again... A little over two years ago, Kyle and I adopted a three-legged mutt from the Eastern Shore SPCA in Onley, Virginia. For those who don't know the story, Cara was found by local animal control dragging her shattered leg behind her, and although they suspect a car accident was involved, no one knows for certain.
All that is known is that Cara was destined to be put to sleep until the SPCA came along and rescued her. Using money from "Murphy's Fund", a special fund established by the Eastern Shore SPCA to provide life-saving surgeries for adoptable animals in need, they paid for Cara's surgery to amputate her irreparable leg. Because of their love and generosity, Kyle and I are lucky enough now to have an adorably sweet hound who makes us laugh every day.
So for the third year in a row, I'd like to raise money to help keep "Murphy's Fund" well funded for other animals who might need medicine or a surgery before they can find their forever home.
This is in lieu of any and all gifts some of you may be plotting for my upcoming 40th birthday next month.
I have everything I could ever need in this world, including Cara, but if you feel compelled to get me something to celebrate my birthday, it would mean the world to me if you could donate to this wonderful organization that has given us so much in the form of one little dog.
