BENEFITING: HARLEM LACROSSE AND LEADERSHIP CORPORATION
Every year, Harlem Lacrosse and Leadership provides our students the opportunity to visit colleges and universities for tours, informational sessions, and workshops with campus leaders. For many of our students, these trips will be the first time they set foot on a college campus. The experience is transformative, especially for young lacrosse players whose heroes are not professional athletes but college lacrosse players who are student-athletes at the schools we visit. This year with your help, the P.S. 149 Sojourner Truth School Girls will be able to take two college overnight trips, during with they will grow as lacrosse players, young women, and as engaged students with ambitious goals for the future.
Trip 1: The P.S. 149 Girls Team has traveled to Washington D.C. for three years now. This year the girls will be going to visit Georgetown University, where they will see the women's lacrosse team take on the University of Pennsylvania and spend time touring the school, playing lacrosse, and meeting the team. The girls will also have a chance to share pizza with the Howard University Women's Lacrosse team and visit historic sites in our nation's capital The trip will be full of lacrosse, learning, and fun!
Trip 2: The girls will also journey to the University of Pennsylvania to participate in Quaker Lacrosse's Urban Lacrosse Jamboree. This is the first year that there will be a girls lacrosse jamboree, and our players are excited to meet new friends from Philadelphia and Boston who share their love of the game. During the trip, the girls will able tour UPenn and participate in a number of team-building activities. HLL's FDA boys have been participating in the event for two years and we are very excited to send our girls this year!
