The overwhelming need for safe, decent, and affordable housing in the Peterborough and Kawartha Region has provided Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region with a unique opportunity to change lives in our commuity. We are one of the few - if not only - affordable home ownership programs that serves low-income families. Cost burden and overcrowding are the most serious problems experienced by very low-income area residents. Working with volunteers, families, corporations, and individuals, we are able to tackle this important housing issue across the Peterborough and Kawartha Region. We are dedicated to making homeownership possible for low-income, hardworking families.
We offer a hand up, not a hand out. We do not give away our houses. We require Habitat homeowners to invest a minimum of 500 hours of sweat equity to help build their home and each qualify for a 0% interest mortgage. Shelter is a basic human need and Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region strives to achieve its goal of eliminating substandard housing by making simple, decent, sustainable, and affordable housing a reality for families and individuals.
Every dollar donated to Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region goes directly into home building.
