The Good Shepherd Alliance is a Christian nonprofit that has served the homeless (and near-homeless) in Loudoun County, Virginia since 1983. Today, our services help more than 3,000 men, women and children each year. We provide almost 10,000 bed nights.

Since 2007, The Good Shepherd Alliance has operated a program called the Six Steps to Self-Sufficiency Housing Program. This program pairs emergency and transitional housing with intensive case management. The program model helps struggling families assess the cause of their crisis and remove the barriers to self-sufficiency one step at a time. The program focuses on areas of financial responsibility and housing, such as budgeting, debt reduction, credit score improvement, transportation, child care, education, employment, and finding affordable housing. This program provides shelter to an average of 116 individuals and has had a success rate of between 70-100% of participants moving on to stable housing when exiting our program. Program length varies on a case-by-case basis from 89-days in our emergency to up to two years in our transitional home for single mothers.

The Good Shepherd Alliance owns and operates seven shelters consiting of one emergency shelter and six transitonal homes for single women, single mothers, and families in Loudoun County. Our case managers receive over 2,500 calls for assistance each year, offer thrift store vouchers where needy individuals can shop for necessities in our three thrift stores, as well as a dry food and supply pantry consisting of diapers, wipes, and other hygeine products. Our organization hosts over 900 volunteers every years and receive over $150,000 in in-kind donations.
