Graduation day is almost here! Preceding my graduation, I will be presenting at two national nursing conferences, which I have recieved some funding for, but am still in need of a little support. I will be sending out graduation announcements and invitations in the near future, but until then, here some information about it. Please let me know if you may be able to attend!!! There will also be a less formal celebration (of course) which I will not need to know the exact number of attendees, with details still to come.

National Student Nurses' Association Annual Convention: April 2-7th, Charlotte, NC

As the primary author of a resolution submitted to the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA), I will be to be there to present, debate, and advocate for a potential position for NSNA to take on an issue I hold dear to my heart. As many of you know, I spent years working as a behavioral therapist, and had the opportunity to see the tremendous benefit proper behavioral treatment can have for many kids. The resolution advocates for federal autism healthcare reform including the adoption of a health insurance policy in every state that will provide coverage for the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders as directed by the Autism Speaks Organization. Furthermore, the resolution seeks to provide opportunities for education and resources to NSNA members and other stakeholders involved in the future of nursing.

Western Institute of Nursing Research Conference: April 10-13th, Anaheim, CA

As a student Research Assistant, I will be presenting my team's findings on the efficacy of the use of IV acetaminophen in the post-surgical patient. As a result of our review of evidence, we are presenting recommendations for healthcare facilities to analyze, and consider possible removal of IV acetaminophen as an option for pain management. My involvement in the project has been a very enriching experience, and I am excited to embrace many more research opportunities in my professional career.

I have been looking into nurse residency programs across the country, which I plan on applying for potential placement. Nurse residency programs have been shown to increase competence, mastery of skills, and foster professional growth, especially in specialty fields. My tentative plan is to pursue work in pediatric oncology/hematology.
