Gary Giddens Memorial Run PHor a Cure Photo

The Story

EVENT DATE: Feb 28, 2015

Gary Giddens lived with Pulmonary Hypertension for nearly 20 years before he passed away from complications of PH on December 12, 2012. He was a beloved husband and father, and truly made a lasting impact on his community through his perseverance and positive attitude even in the face of his illness.

Giddens Memorial 5k will take place on February 28, the date of Gary and Dena Gidden’s wedding anniversary, in memory of the invaluable years Gary was fortunate enough to be able to spend with his family. The event will take runners through Pecan Park and down the Lanana Creek Trail of Stephen F. Austin campus, as they raise awareness for Pulmonary Hypertension.

On-site registration will start at 8am, and the event will begin at 9am with the Kids Dash. This will be followed by the 5k run event, and the 1 mile walk. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association to be used in research for a cure for Pulmonary Hypertension.
